NHRI·EU - Overview

The NHRI·EU Capacity Project is a global project aiming to strengthen the capacities of NHRIs individually and collectively in line with the UN Paris Principles, in order to increase their impact and effectiveness in promoting and protecting human rights.

The NHRI·EU has a specific focus on the activities related to business and human rights, and economic, social and cultural rights, monitoring and reporting to regional and international human rights bodies and promotion of human rights education into the formal education sector. By the end of the project, all targeted NHRIs will better fulfill their mandates in these areas. Furthermore, the purpose is to support the regional networks of NHRIs and the global alliance of NHRIs to improve efficiency of their organizations. These secretariats will by the end of the project gain acknowledgment as key international human rights stakeholders and act as recognized regional/global networks of NHRIs.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) is the main facilitator and project manager of NHRI·EU, and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) operate as a regional coordinator.
